The jealous and broken-hearted Swanilda foils the doctor's plan, and exposes the truth about Coppélia to Franz.
Some of the illustrations reflect the traditional reading of the rhyme, while others bring something new. For example, the Jack in "Jack Be Nimble" is a mouse who, nibbling on a wedge of cheese set on a table, must jump over a candlestick to get away when a cat appears. The book is attractively laid out and designed, and the cheerful illustrations can be easily "read" by children too young to read the words.
